I recently started working with Blender again, after too many years of the program collecting dust on my computers. In my attempts to learn the art of making iPhone apps in my spare time, I found out that I can use Blender to make some cool things for the iPhone.

This first image I created using an image of the Earth from NASA. I started with a ball, added the NASA image and altered it with Blender. I then used the new altered to replace the NASA shot. After rendering, I touched it up in Photoshop. As beautiful as the Earth is, it looks so much better when artists touch it up a bit. It is really dull – or at least NASA’s shot is really dull.

I then used SIO2 and Xcode to make an iPhone app that would spin the Earth that I had made.

I just hope i can find the time to keep this going. Blender’s user interface is still a struggle and Objective C is a fun language, but I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around it.
